WEFTEC Follow-up Report
seepex, Inc. had a 600 ft² (56 m²) booth at WEFTEC '08 in Chicago. The exhibition was held on Oct. 19-22. The display was centered on three products: the BTH, the SST and the new integrated drive for MD and BW pumps. Needless to say, the SST drew a great deal of interest. A 17-6L SST pump was shown as a static display and continuous videos of the comparison replacement with a standard molded-to-metal-tube stator, along with the two halves of the stator that are being injection molded by seepex, Inc. in Enon, Ohio.
This year WEFTEC had over 20,000 attendees. The capability of seepex to efficiently and effectively handle dewatered sludge cake is of great interest in the heavily populated area around Chicago. One of the largest installations for "cake" pumps is nearby at the North Shore Sanitary District, where an entire sludge storage and processing center was installed several years ago by VA Technologies "WABAG". These pumps have worked very reliably and have been closely serviced by the seepex area representative in Chicago, Drydon Equipment Company.
The integrated MD pump and drive was fitted to a one-foot-square (930 cm²) load cell to demonstrate the proportional logic inherent in the drive. Set on a scale of 0-400 lbs (0-181 kg), attendees had a good time seeing how fast their friends could make the pump circulate green antifreeze.
